Energy and Infrastructure Desk: Power, Grid Constraints, and Capital Projects
Rowan Price introduces the Energy and Infrastructure desk, focused on electricity demand, grid constraints, project finance, industrial capacity, and infrastructure risk.

The Energy and Infrastructure desk will cover the systems that allow modern industries to operate: power generation, transmission, grid interconnection, pipelines, storage, industrial facilities, transportation infrastructure, and large capital projects. These systems are often invisible until they become constraints.
Ocealara will focus on the connection between demand growth and physical capacity. Electrification, data centers, manufacturing, cooling demand, and infrastructure renewal all require capital, permitting, equipment, labor, and grid coordination. A project can have strong demand but still face delays if interconnection queues, transformer availability, financing costs, or local opposition slow execution.
The desk will also cover the financial side of infrastructure. Large projects depend on cost of capital, contract structure, regulatory treatment, and long-term demand assumptions. Rising construction costs or financing pressure can change the economics of a project even when the strategic need is clear.
Energy coverage will not be limited to one fuel or technology. The desk will follow reliability, affordability, emissions pressure, industrial demand, and the role of infrastructure in public-market earnings.
The objective is to make infrastructure coverage concrete. Instead of treating energy transition, grid growth, or capital projects as slogans, Ocealara will examine the constraints that determine whether projects are built, delayed, resized, or repriced.
